The incretin axis offers a novel therapeutic target to preserve myocardial energy metabolism in cardiorenal syndrome

چکیده
Background Clinical and epidemiological data have identified a cardiorenal syndrome (CRS), in which heart and/or kidney failure accelerates dysfunction in the other organ. New therapeutics are needed to target the mechanisms that cause CRS and treat the whole patient. The aims of this study were to 1) assess in vivo cardiorenal metabolism using hyperpolarized C MR spectroscopy (MRS) in experimental CRS, and 2) to test the hypothesis that normalizing aberrant metabolic reprogramming could provide CRS therapy.

Nitric oxide mediated the effects of nebivolol in cardiorenal syndrome
Objective(s): Despite several proposed mechanisms for the pathophysiology of cardiorenal syndrome (CRS), the exact mechanism remains unclear. Nitrosative stress has been argued as a key mechanism recently. Nebivolol is a beta-blocker with nitric oxide (NO)-releasing effect. In the present study, NO-mediated effects of two different treatment regimes of nebivolol in CRS...
متن کاملPathogenesis of Chronic Cardiorenal Syndrome: Is There a Role for Oxidative Stress?
Cardiorenal syndrome is a frequently encountered clinical condition when the dysfunction of either the heart or kidneys amplifies the failure progression of the other organ. Complex biochemical, hormonal and hemodynamic mechanisms underlie the development of cardiorenal syndrome. Both in vitro and experimental studies have identified several dysregulated pathways in heart failure and in chronic...
متن کاملCurrent and Potential Therapeutic Strategies for Hemodynamic Cardiorenal Syndrome.
BACKGROUND Cardiorenal syndrome (CRS) encompasses conditions in which cardiac and renal disorders co-exist and are pathophysiologically related. The newest classification of CRS into seven etiologically and clinically distinct types for direct patient management purposes includes hemodynamic, uremic, vascular, neurohumoral, anemia- and/or iron metabolism-related, mineral metabolism-related and ...
متن کاملApelin: A promising therapeutic target? (Part 1)
Apelin is a recently discovered bioactive peptide, known to be an endogenous high-affinity ligandfor the previously orphan G protein-coupled receptor APJ. Apelin/APJ as a novel signaling pathwayhas been shown to play many crucial roles in cardiovascular function, blood pressure regulation, fluidhomeostasis, feeding behavior, obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, adipoinsular axis regulation, cellp...
متن کاملExercise training has restorative potential on myocardial energy metabolism in rats with chronic heart failure
Objective(s): Exercise training is a well-known accelerator for the treatment of chronic heart failure (CHF). The current study aimed to investigate the restorative effects of aerobic interval training (AIT) intervention on myocardial energy metabolism in CHF rats. Materials and Methods: Post-myocardial infarction (MI) heart failure animal model was established. The Sprague-Dawley rats were ran...
